John
John’s main background in sport is ice hockey and training for ice hockey, playing the sport for around 20 years. John has represented Scotland and GB at junior level and has played pro as a senior.
Ice hockey is a sport that demands strength in all areas of fitness and as a result John has experience of a wide variety of training techniques and methods.
Due to his focus on sport and fitness John went on to study Sports Studies at the University of Stirling.
After John finished up playing ice hockey he got involved in running, and more specifically hill running. His bug for running and the need to get an adrenaline rush drew John to Obstacle Racing. Back in 2012 he signed up for his first Spartan Race and finished 2nd overall.
Since then he has a number of wins and podium places in a number of different obstacle races while still competing in road races, trail races and hill races.
John’s current training focus is on power lifting and fitness competitions with a goal of gaining weight and strength, so is loving smashing weights sessions and CrossFit workouts.
